Wondering what a gift to Hike it Baby can do? Your gift helps us provide programming that supports families with babies and young children getting outside, and gives them the tools, gear and support to do so!
Bring it Outside
Our Bring it Outside program offers a unique opportunity for families of all walks of life with young children to get outside, play together, take first steps as trail stewards, and soak in the physical and mental benefits of time spent in nature. We offer facilitated hiking workshops, bilingual resources, and free gear to participants. Thanks to generous grant funding, we've been expanding our existing family hiking workshops and neighborhood outreach in high equity spaces and rural communities across Oregon, but your funding could help expand that work to other areas.
Since starting the Bring it Outside program in 2021, we have hosted workshop series events for 180 underserved families. These workshops provide developmentally appropriate activities, learning guides for parents, hands on activities, and each family has received over $250 in gear to help nurture the parent/family bond and establish a habit of getting outside together.
Turn the Blues Green
Turn the Blues Green is a special program focused on the maternal mental health of new mamas. Our pilot programming has allowed a few select hospitals to partner with us and roll out the Turn the Blues Green booklet to their communities, as well as leading hikes for postpartum parents. This helps new parents gain confidence in getting outdoors with their newborn to strengthen their bond, and support parents mental and physical health because data shows that spending time outdoors with a newborn can improve health outcomes for both the mother and child.
In 2022, we again partnered with St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, CO and expanded our pilot programming to three locations in Montana as part of the Intermountain Health system. We need your help to expand this exciting program into new communities and hospitals.

Hike it Baby's Community Led HikesOur community led hikes are the roots of Hike it Baby! We offer branches across North America so families can join their local Hike it Baby branch in their community. Community members can join or even host hikes to get outside with other families. Remember we use the term "hike" loosely, so "hikes" include anything from playground playtime to walks to the coffee shop or even traditional trail hiking.
